Incredible and Inspiring day at the Dallas Arboretum
51The Dallas Arboretum is a wonderful place to visit while your in the Dallas/Fort
Worth area. The tulips and Daffodils are in bloom this time of year plus many
other things.
Currently, they have Spring Blooms It's a Fairy Tail World at the Dallas Arboretum which is a fairy tale scavenger hunt for young children. The scavenger hunt is a list of seven questions, one for each castle, that encourages children to explore the castles looking for clues. The exhibit includes Aladdin's castle, The
Little Mermaid, Jack and the Beanstalk, Beauty and the Beast Castle, Rapunzel's tower, the Princess and the Pea, and Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters'. Each of
the castles are designed and constructed by local architects. This is a temporary exhibit that will be displayed until April 10th.
In
addition, they have Texas Wildlife Discovery Hunt with bronze animals statuary displayed throughout their Lay Ornamental Garden with signage for the children to
read and learn about the local animal habitat. There is a fill in the blank question
sheet the children can use as they search for each of the statues. A great
opportunity for the children to expand their minds!
Another exhibit they
have for the children is an old time village. Children can walk through a tee-pee or get in a covered wagon. A few steps away is a rustic village they
can explore.
As an adult, I just loved all the gardens with there many different themes.
There are areas of just colorful flowers, then go around the bend to see an
English Garden. Look further down the path to see a gazebo or trellis
surrounded by Holly Berry Bushes. Explore some more and you will find the
little poetry garden with benches for reading surrounded by a large rustic
cement and stone fence, a very quiet and intimate space to relax. Go back up a
path and you come to a reflecting pool surrounded by modern art mixed with a few
rustic benches.
The many little paths, made with different materials,
take you through all types of gardens bursting with color and nature. It really
makes you think of the many different things you can do with your garden and the
many different materials you can use including fountains, trellis, and
statues.
This wonderful garden in Dallas is a must see if you
area!
