A Fantastic Dinner at Mountainview Bistro

When entering the Bistro, located in Fontana Village Lodge, North Carolina, you are welcomed to a beautiful but, rustic looking dining room. A room filled with dining tables, some round but most rectangular, all with coordinating chairs and finished with a small vase or mason jar with fresh flowers. The walls are a dark wood with paneling and columns of stones that look as though they were hand picked from the mountains that surround the Lodge. The Bistro offers a spectacular view of the Smoky Mountains that can be seen through a wall of windows on the long side of the rectangular restaurant.

Service was fantastic. Our waitress, Charlena, and another server came out immediately with a basket of petite biscuits & corn bread muffins and filled our water glasses. She came out again with almost perfect timing to take our beverage and dinner order. The wait time for the drinks & hors d'oeuvres and the dinner was more than acceptable. Our waitress was pleasant and really thoughtful & patient with our children.

The food was delicious. I ordered the Trout and my husband ordered the Bourbon Chicken. Both entrees were beautifully presented on simple white plates. The Trout was topped with two boiled shrimp and covered with capers and cherry tomato halves presented on a display of asparagus and finished in a butter sauce. The grilled Bourbon Chicken breast was displayed on a bed of fettuccini finished with a spicy Cajun sauce. The Trout was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth while the tangy flavor of the capers gave it a unique and delectable flavor. The Bourbon Chicken was grilled to a juicy perfection and tasted wonderful with it's spicy Cajun flavor.

All in all, atmosphere, service, and the meal were wonderful! I would highly recommend the Mountainview Bistro whether you are staying in the Fontana Village Resort or just taking a scenic ride on Highway 28 through the Smoky Mountains.
